This is the first time renting from an owner
directly, how does it work? Our
rental procedure is as follows: After deciding on the week(s) you want, confirm
availability by phone or email. I will also need your mailing address and phone
number. I will mail or email you the rental agreement. Sign and mail it back to
me with a check for 50% of the total rent. The remaining 50% rent plus security
deposit is due 1 month prior to the vacation date. Do
you supply a cleaning service? We
do not use a cleaning company. My husband and I clean the units ourselves when
there is a change of tenants. We pride ourselves in the cleanliness of our
beach house and want to see first-hand that it is in the condition that we
would like if renting ourselves. We do ask tenants to leave the house in good
condition, make beds, remove all food and take out garbage. If it is not left
in good condition we will deduct it from the security deposit. We have been
lucky enough never to have this issue. How
close is your house to the beach? Our
house is on the Oceanside of the Island. We are 10 houses from the beach and
you would have to cross two small streets for the beach entry. When
will the security deposit be returned?
The security deposit will be returned once we check the unit and verify that
nothing is damaged. I will mail it to the address you supplied within a week.
Fortunately we have never had a reason to deduct from anyone's security
deposit. Do
you rent to high school or college students? We
only rent to families. Do
you allow pets? We
do not allow any pets of any kind not even as visitors.
What if something breaks or doesn't work during our vacation? Please
feel free to call us immediately, and we will try to get it fixed as soon as
possible. What
is your cancellation policy? If
you need to cancel you vacation for any reason, contact me right away, by email
or phone so I can address the issue promptly. I will need to re-list the property
for your week. If it rents for the same price, you will not be charged. If I
need to discount the week, you will have to absorb the difference. I have never
had this problem, but I know situations arise and I will do my best so you will
not encounter any financial hardship.
